There have been numerous big and small earthquakes till date but the biggest earthquakes of all times had been recorded in the tape with an intensity of 9.5 on the Richter scale. In US, there has been a consistent record of earthquakes in history varying in dimension and chronology of earthquakes. Earthquakes in the US have contributed largely towards the record of earthquakes that has been listed so far globally. Here is the biggest earthquakes recorded.

Every year in numerous parts of the World, there is one natural phenomenon that brings a lot of catastrophe of human lives. Earthquakes had been major threats not only in USA but also in Japan, Indonesia, Alaska, Chile, Hawaii and many other countries.

The Geological survey showed that the biggest earthquake of all times must have been the Great Chilean Earthquake that took place in Santiago, Chile and it measured up to 9.5 on the Richter scale. This “Great Chilean Earthquake” took a massive death toll of around 6000 people. So like this every year, all the mentioned countries and various other countries and regions have been subject to this atmospheric catastrophe. Some of the earthquakes turn out to be the object of historical significance while some others remain noted as margins, measurements, natural disasters.

The possible second biggest earthquake amongst the biggest earthquakes recorded in history is probably the earthquake in Alaska in 1964 that clocked 9.2 in the Richter scale. Until 193, the measurements of earthquakes have not been known to mankind as the invention of Richter scale did not take place. However, in the early 1500, the Shaanxi earthquake is the biggest ever earthquake known to mankind as it caused a death toll of almost a million people. It is impossible to declare the intensity for the lack of the Richter scale that early. So there have been some of the biggest earthquakes in the past but they might not have featured among the biggest earthquakes recorded in history.
